3D Gallery: Jean-Michel Basquiat
Jean-Michel Basquiat a Neo-expressionist artist was born on December 20, 1960 and died at the young age of 27 on August 12, 1988. Although he did not reach fame until the age of 21, with just 6 years of fame, Basquiat became one of todays most influential artist. Still relevant to this day, Basquiat covers themes of wealth and poverty, racial segregation, and class struggles. His work includes graffiti-like images and visual text scattered around. This gallery begins in the center with one of his first artworks titled “Skull” and moves to the right taking you in chronological order, moving in a clock-wise direction, and ending back in the center once again to his last artwork “Riding With Death”.
REFLECTION
Creating an online gallery was a great experience. It is a tool that I would love to include into my future class where I feel that it is a great alternative when students are not able to physically visit a gallery. I would love to set up this as an assignment where students get to present to the class and have students learn about new artists. Setting up the gallery did not take that much time, what took the most time was learning how to navigate the website. I also love how it's free! very accessible for all students.
